Money and Loan Shark Awareness Workshop with the Stop Loan Shark Team

Join us online via msTeams for an interactive 1-hour workshop on Money and Loan Sharks by the Loan Shark Team.
There are currently 1.2 million people in debt to loan sharks in England alone and this is expected to rise to 10 million within the next 3 years due to the ever-increasing cost of living, the high rejection rate of credit applications to regulated lenders, and the huge gap in the credit marketplace. Please join us for a Money and Loan Shark Awareness training session delivered by Dave Monk, an Officer from the Stop Loan Shark team within the Government Law Enforcement Agency.
The session will include:
– Explaining what illegal money lenders are (more commonly known as loan sharks) and what makes them illegal.
– How they operate and find new borrowers.
– The effect that they have on borrowers, their families, and communities.
– How people can keep themselves as safe as possible from them.
-Support from the Stop Loan Shark team and how they operate.
– How anyone can engage in a simple conversation with anyone (client, service user, family member, or friend) to see if they are in debt to a loan shark and to find out what happens next.
