Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST)

Competitively priced ASIST: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training for businesses and communities within Plymouth. Take part in our 2-day course to learn about suicide first aid and more.

Thousands of people in the UK end their lives by suicide each year. Learning about the possible risk factors linked to suicidal thoughts, along with how it can be prevented, may save a life.

Combatting this starts with recognising suicide signs but, more importantly, knowing how and when to act.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST) teaches you to recognise when someone has suicide thoughts. You will not become a therapist but instead you will learn practical and supportive skills to successfully work with them. This will enable you to create a plan that supports their immediate safety.

ASIST is a two-day interactive course that enables you to become more confident and identify risk and intervene to prevent the immediate risk of suicide.

Our skilled trainers will be available to offer you support and create a learning atmosphere where you will feel safe and encouraged to support each other.

Please note: This course includes role-play activities, which may distress some delegates. Due to the nature of the course, training can only be completed in person.

You must be 18 and over to attend this course.

This course is available only for those living or working within the Plymouth community.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training Aims:

By booking onto our ASIST course you will be able to:

"The trainers were extremely patient, helpful and attentive. It has enabled me to feel much more confident discussing suicide awareness with others."

"The skills and processes within the training were very useful. I was particularly fond of the roleplay task, it was helpful for me as it allows you practice to ask the questions with the trainers giving you different scenarios"
